2006 BROCHURE

2006 BROCHURE COBHAM RIVER LODGE

The Cobham River Lodge is built out of conventional construction material. The exterior walls are finished with a wavy cedar siding while the interior walls are of native pine. There is a wooded deck with a three-foot high railing around the entire lodge. The lodge has a rated capacity of sixteen guests, with bedrooms of different sizes. There are also staff quarters in the same main lodge building. All the furniture was handmade of native pine in Kenora, Ontario.

The typical day at the lodge is breakfast at 7am and out the door fishing by 8am. During breakfast we help plan your day of fishing by providing maps and discussing possible fishing tactics. Breakfast usually consists of bacon, eggs

pancakes, french toast, sausage or ham, and coffee. We plan a predetermined lunch location and the guests catch each days shore lunch during the morning. We begin to prepare the shore lunch at 11am each day, weather permitting. When the guests arrive at the shore lunch location at noon, they begin an experience they will remember for a lifetime, a fresh Canadian walleye shore lunch. Our staff will prepare the shore lunch each day with special seasonings and batter mixes which you will find unique. Early preparation of lunch allows our guests a full afternoon of fishing. Fish you have caught by noon are cleaned and taken back to the freezer to assure the quality of the fish you take home. You will return to the lodge around 5:30pm so your afternoon catch can be cleaned and processed. Appetizers are served at 6pm and dinner at 7pm. After dinner the guests gather around the large native rock fireplace, or our screened in deck and talk about the big one that got away, or the one they landed, play cards or watch their favorite team on satellite TV. For that avid fisherman who still wants more fishing they may go out after dinner since we have no restrictions on when you canfish. Guides are not required at the Lodge or Hidden Lake. However, if you desire a guide they are available at the Lodge only. With advance notice a guide is usually available at the local going rate.

The Lodge is equipped with three bathrooms for guests. All have large tiled showers and sinks. All towels, washcloths, sheets and bedding are furnished with daily housekeeping service. We have 24-hour phone service at the Lodge for your personal use. All guests are given directions on how to call the Lodge direct so family members can contact them in case of an emergency.

For the 2006 season we have equipped the Lodge with 16′ Lund boats powered with 9.9 HP Yamaha outboard motors, mounted swivel seats with back rests, landing nets, stringers and boat cushions. These boats are washed out and serviced each evening. We have a Cessna 180 float plane based at the Lodge for any emergency flights. With phone service and the plane, you have a sense of security. We are thankful that our Lodge on the Cobham River is the only lodge for hundreds of water miles.

We have a policy at the Lodge that if you have a minimum of 12 guests in your party we will reserve the entire Lodge for your group only. This is great for business meetings and your group’s privacy.

During the 2006 season we will still have our portage to South Lake, which offers our guests excellent trophy pike and walleye fishing.

Meals at the Lodge, what can I say! Our departing guests say it best, “I am not eating for a week when I get home”, and “I must have gained 10 pounds.” The menu at the lodge consists of a soup and salad bar, with main entrees including ham, pork roasts, beef roasts, steak, turkey, ribs and many original recipes. Don’t forget the desserts, homemade bread, pies, and other selections.
